How To: Deal With Change (With Grace)!

…It’s Just A {Moon} Phase

By: Heather Hooke

Hey trubeautys! Anyone else effected by the recent Pink Full Moon?!?? Whoa baby—it’s been such an exhilarating, yet kinda crazy phase for me! Kinda like a growth spirt lol! A mix of totally being spontaneous living in the moment (which has been in my story) + LOTS OF NEW CHANGES and experiences coming my way!

For instance, in the last few weeks I’ve had my nanny/assistant move to NYC, interviewed a bunch of new nannies, hired one… had her start and been training her. Then I’ve had 2 out of 4 members of my blog team either move to another state or transition to a new experience and have been training their replacements… and as weird as it sounds our lawn team who I’ve had forever hired more people and we have a whole new team lol (first world problems, I know)! But still, these are people I interact with on a daily basis and it’s all been shuffled around—so for awhile there it really did turn my everyday world upside down.

While I am SUPER sad to see these special people go as I’ve talked about in some of my posts and stories, the amazing opportunities coming their way are incredible and I’m so happy for them! These changes have also lead to some exciting things on my part, which you will all see down the line on my blog. But while these changes are likely very good in the long run for them and me… change is never easy, which is what inspired today’s #realtalk post.

Like most humans, change is not easy for me, but ESPECIALLY being a Cancer lol. We like stability & a sense of security—and all people are just creatures of habit! So if I’m being honest, while a little part of me kinda wants to freak out from all this change?? I am reminding myself that EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON and just as my tank says here… “It’s just a phase” and to go with it!

Whether it’s a change you can’t control or something you instigated… Here are my tips on how to deal with change (with grace) that seems to have worked for me over the years:

1. Prioritize Self Care: When change is going on around us this is often when we need stop taking as good of care of ourselves, but is often WHEN we need to been even more attentive of our self care. When you feel out of control, take back control by taking care of yourself and making your wellness routine a priority! In the book The Happiness Factor, there have actually been studies proving that those who feel more in control of their world in some capacity are happier. Of course, in moderation this is great advice. This will assist you to find your balance and build self confidence over time!

2. Ask How This Change Can Make You Better: There is a great quote I just read that said “Abundance Comes From Adversity.” This is such a good point. Sometimes our “calling” in life which points us in the direction to help others and create abundance at the same time is because of the hardest things we have gone through. For example, when I had acne when I was younger I thought it was the worst thing in the world and asked why me? It really took a toll on my self esteem, but later I realized going through this change actually helped fuel my passion for empowering women in + out and my passion for natural solutions and a healthier lifestyle. So, ask what can this change do to make you better or point you in the direction of helping others who may also be going through this.

3. Be Optimistic: I will be doing a post coming up on the power of optimism! People have always told me I’m so “nice” and happy and optimistic all the time. Well, I’ll be honest I don’t really love the term nice, because I feel nice can be fake verses kind but that’s a whole other topic. However, happy and optimistic is the biggest compliment ever! There are numerous studies on the power of optimism for our brain health and overall happiness level, not to mention our ability to manifest our dream life! Think of it this way… you know when you start looking at a car, and then you see that car everywhere?! It’s the same with optimism… if you challenge yourself to see the biggest picture and look beyond what is in front of you and try to see the “silver lining” so to speak, you will automatically start to see the positive outcome from all this change verses someone who is negative. Stay tuned on my upcoming post for more tips on that!!

4. It’s Just A Phase—or “This Too Shall Pass!” My Grandma who passed away around Christmas, just had her birthday the day after Mother’s Day (on Monday) and it was a tough thing for my family, but especially my Mom—because it was her mother. My Grandma Helen would have been 94 years old; she was always such a wise and classy women. She always ate natural and was so healthy mind, body, spirit and definitely made an impact on my Mom and then my Mom and her on me. My Grandma used to say the quote, “This Too Shall Pass.” It is so true. Sometimes, when we are on the fence or feeling off… the best thing we can do is wait and reflect. I also suggest while doing this, having a creative outlet for your emotions and letting yourself feel what you are feeling and not ignoring your very real emotions. It’s healthy to have emotions and you are not alone to be feeling “off” every once in awhile. In fact, it’s very much normal and odd to not feel that way.

5. Communicate and reach out to others: Whether it’s significant other, best friend, acquaintance, social media or a stranger you just randomly have a conversation with… we are social beings and the way we get through tough times or changing times is to connect with others in a real and authentic way! So, do that. Just like I am now. While it can be scary to be so vulnerable, it’s what makes us real and ironically likable—because people can relate! There is NO SUCH THING AS PERFECTION and confidence 100% of the time. That would be boring anyway. The most profound connections are often when we are just open, vulnerable and real. Who knows… you mind find your calling being so real or even meet your soul mate or next bestie. Regardless, when you allow your light to shine in a real way, you subconsciously allow others to do the same and that’s the kind of world I believe all of us trubeautys should manifest! That’s so needed in today’s world. More realness.

Sometimes when we are in the middle of a vey positive transformation period? things can feel this way. It is so important to take a step back and just breathe (focusing on our exhale so our body can relax). Stay positive & aim for progress not perfection trubeautys. Right now we are being asked to just show up. Join me and let’s smile & enjoy the ride! Xo Heath ??✌??
