After recently having one of my yoga clients of 3 years pass away suddenly, hearing just yesterday that two friends from high school lost their newborn due to unforeseen circumstances, and now today I’m so sad to announce my Grandpa passed away this morning at 95 years old (my Mom’s Dad). ???? I feel so drawn to get my message out about the importance of respecting the healing process and realizing we all have our shit… It’s just a matter of how we handle it and the mentality and perspective we CHOOSE to take! Everything is always a choice and the power of our mind is stronger than we realize.
Regardless of my Grandpa’s incredible age (especially for men) and the long, beautiful life he lived with my Grandma, these things are never easy. As I’m being there for my Grandma and my Mom during this difficult time, reminding my Mom to take time to slow down and absorb what happened, heal and get closure, I’m reminded to do this myself. I think too often we get caught up with the process of the “next steps” that we forget the importance of allowing ourselves to really process what happened & give ourselves permission not only to slow down and fully feel and heal, but be patient with ourselves as we seek closure.
Immediately after hearing the news from my Mom this morning, the first thing I thought to do was #write & you know what I realized… My #writing is my #art and my art is my #therapy ! This may seem like common sense, but for me I’ve always thought, “Oh, everyone can write or take a good picture”, so blogging is not exactly special or considered an “art” per se; I thought being an artist meant some dramatic stance of leaving the orderly life to become a painter, sculpture, singer or designer & God knows I like order and organization way too much for that lol! I thought, I’m not an “artist” I just like creative things. But that is so incredibly wrong – we are ALL artists in our own way; taking our paint brush (or pen or whatever that outlet is for you) constantly creating, processesing, expressing ourselves & manifesting our story, whether we realize it or not.
There is a beautiful quote that says, “To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong” – Joseph Chilton Pearce. Like this quote, I think the key is not overthinking or second guessing yourself and just allowing yourself to be as you process whatever it is you are going through each day… To be completely #real , completely #raw , and completely #vulnerable as you express yourself. This is art and this is living fully. Ironically this not only allows us to #connect more with others, but most importantly with ourselves, which usually takes us to where we know in our #hearts we want to be. So be #fearless trubeautys! Be vulnerable. Be expressing yourself. And be undeniably YOU in all situations… This is the key to everything you’ve always wanted! But you have to have the courage to live in the moment and just jump! …I love you forever Grandpa and I’m so happy I’ve taken the time today to process the best way I know how, through my passion for writing and the outlets that speak to me. Thank you for your #spiritual #guidance , #shining light, and influence today and in our family! You will be missed.???
Until next time,
